Pleioblastus pygmaeus Height: 0.2 to 0.4 metres Common Name: Pygmy Bamboo This tiny bamboo comes with a big conquistadorial personality: it spreads eagerly, covering the land with its pint-sized canes and brilliant green leaves. Its acquisitive nature makes it wonderful for securing the soil on steep slopes, river banks or for clothing other difficult areas. If you have a small garden, we suggest surrounding it with a rhizome barrier. Better still, grow it as a bonsai: it is eminently suitable for long-term pot culture.
