Sasa tsuboiana

Height: Up to a metre

This small bamboo, which forms bushy, round clumps was named after Isuke Tsuboi, a bamboo cultivator at Kusafuka near Ogaki in Japan. The intensely green, broad sasa-type leaves are carried on bright-green canes. It thrives in most types of soil and in sun or shade. The creeping rhizomes make it a valuable groundcover plant.
