Pseudosasa japonica 'Tsutsumiana'

Height: 3 to 4 metres

Common Name: Green Onion Bamboo

This unusual version of the species appeared in the garden of Mr Tsutsumi in Mito City, Japan, during the first half of the twentieth century, but was introduced to Europe only about ten years ago. The culms produce a curious ballooning bulge above each node which is very decorative. Mr Tsutsumi's bamboo grows best when it is not positioned in full sun.
