Phyllostachys flexuosa

Common Name: Zig-zag Bamboo

The green culms of this graceful, arching bamboo bend alternately at each node to create a slight zig-zag effect. The dark-green leaves - which often turn golden-green in the sun - are held tentatively out from the branches in an airy manner. It doesn't mind cold, drought or chalky soil, and in fact, it produces its brightest greeny-gold colouring in full sun on limey soil. It looks equally good as a hedge, growing on its own or in a tub. We think it makes a lovely effect when planted next to water.
